Gloria in Excelsis Deo!

25 Dec 2009 In: Thoughts and Musings

It is the year of our Lord, Two Thousand and Nine,  nine years after the new millenium.

Today we commemorate the Greatest Love in the Universe, God becoming Man for Man’s salvation.  We all know the story, it has been narrated by our grandparents and parents, pastors and teachers.

But what is Man’s response to God’s Love.  Fr. Mario (Sobrejuanite) sums it all up in his Christmas homily last night – Man’s response is to be the Fullness of Man’s Being.  Those words echo from a book I read in Fr. Candy’s class in college, John Powell’s ” Fully Human, Fully Alive.”

The Fullness of Man’s being is to Be Full Human and Fully Alive.

This is Man’s response to the gift of Christmas!

Have a Blessed Christmas to All.

Avatar (the movie) comes at a very opportune time, when the world and its people are at the brink of destroying everything we’ve got, Mother Earth.

In the past we have woven and spun so many tales about aliens invading earth and using humans as a food source, nah, too much B-movies in my time.  But how about the reverse.  Humankind seeking out other worlds to explore and ‘use’ because we have ‘used’ up everything we had.

Avatar is an eye opener for us, especially during this time.  We need to reconnect with nature, with the Earth, and together we can heal our world – physically and spiritually.

If you’re one of those who abstain from movies at this time of the year, then go see Avatar.  It continues to screen at the IMAX Cinemas at SM Mall of Asia and North EDSA.  Believe me, this IMAS thing, FUNTastic!  Must go, must see!

Mabuhay ka Efren, Bayani!

23 Nov 2009 In: Bayan Ko, Thoughts and Musings

Most of us just keep on dreaming of a better future and end with a sigh of wishful thinking.  Efren has made his dream of getting children out of gangs and giving them a good education a lifelong vocation.  If schools cannot reach the impoverished areas, he brings the school to them.

Hopefully, the next generation of Filipinos will be like Efren.

Let’s support him and vote for our HERO!

Here we go again. As we all trek to the pachon for the annual undras (I don’t know where people got the idea that it is spelled as undas, my uncle corrected me decades ago, emphatically saying, “hijo, undRas hindi undas”), we will be met by another saint, (Typhoon Santi). Brace yourselves folks, this is not another simulation. I just hope the NDCC, PDCC and local governments have not succumb to complacency (again)!

This map of Santi’s path is from the Pagasa website as of 8:30 p.m. 30 October 2009. Please check my favorite Typhoon Central for the latest updates.
