Rants and raves about anything and everything in my life
I fondly remember the colorful Sarao jeepneys of my younger days.
It would have banners, mudguards, sun visors and what-have-you with all the funny Filipinisms like “God knows Hudas not pay”, “Katas ng Saudi”, “Good Driver, Sweet Lover”, other fun stuff.
Of course who would forget “<—Safe Side | Suicide—>”!
I now grudgingly remember my road mosquitos; motorbikes crisscrossing the streets, trying to maneuver into every available space between vehicles and between sidewalks. These man-driven objects seem to be confused as to whether they are human – in which case their proper place is the sidewalk; or are they vehicles – whose proper place is queued up properly on the road.
But hey, they come from every side and angle. From the safe side, and from the suicide. I firmly believe these motorcycle drivers have an unexpressed death wish.
If only they can remember which is the safe side and the suicide, then the roads will be safe for all of us!
The cold spell these past couple of weeks is a welcome respite to our tropical climate. Blame it on global cooling and erratic weather patterns; I actually enjoy the cold spell. You can walk along the main and interior streets of Makati CBD at midday and you won’t get tired.
Makes me remember the hottest of summer days in SFO. I actually enjoy walking out on the streets at times like these.
If you are at Mckinley Hill and going up to Lawton Parkway, you can no longer turn Left heading to Sales Interchange/SLEX. Instead, vehicles turn right and make a U-turn anywhere between Upper Mckinley Road and 5thAvenue; ergo traffic gets screwed up and it can get backed up on Lawton Avenue until the Army Gymnasium.
Sad things is, this happens every friggin day, and nobody has come up with a solution; no MMDA, no Taguig Police, no Army MPs have every did pencil pushing to come up with a solution to this traffic mess.
Motorists would just have to take a deep breath and give out a sigh of frustration each and every single day because people are so indifferent with the situation.
A little massaging of the grey matter folks will produce the workable solution. Calling MMDA, Army, Police, anybody – anybody care at all?
I got a lot of comments, personally conveyed and on FB, about my status (posted on Thursday 31 December 2009, New Year’s Eve). Indulge me, as I repeat my parting words for the year 2009.
To all who touched my life in 2009, and those whose lives I touched
For all the wrongs I have done, I ask for forgiveness
For all the good I have done, it comes from the heart
May the coming year come to fruition with our being more human,
being more divine, in the likeness of our Creator.
Wishing everyone the best of the coming year! Happy New Year!
My thought, my words, my own . . . about events, about things, and about what I experience in everyday life.
